Sorry for the delay

I know everyone has been waiting on pins and needles for a new blog post, so sorry to keep you all waiting.
I just got back from a 2 and half week work shop at Penland.  The class I took was taught by Jim Meyer and Anat Gordesky.  Two very different approaches to making jewelry, Anat worked in the fasion industry in Paris for many years, Jim is a great studio artists,  but they worked very well together.  The class was about using black in jewelry and thinking about the overall design of the piece.

The first pictures is of a ring I made for an assignment to make a ring in 24 hours.  It is made from o-rings and silver.  I made it to fit my finger, but I think it would be better for a man's finger.

This is a brooch I made using swarovsky  crystals and rubber with copper and brass.  One clay student, who was male, walked through our studio and said he would love to wear a brooch like this on a tuxedo.  I liked that idea.

Th is picture is of two other pieces I made (with the long stringy stuff) out of black rubber, crytals, and paint brush bristles.  I really like the form, but want to play around with it more.

I wanted to show some work from my instructors, this is a ring from Jim Meyer.  The ring is actually the pink stone with the diamond in it.

This is a piece from Anat that she donated to the Penland auction.  I love this piece.
This is my class in our studio :)
